About the Hairless dogs of Latin
America
Quechua was the official language of the Incas, and
therefore was spoken , and still is, all over their empire. Khala
or Ccala means naked ,and is the origin of the Peruvian-Spanish
word"calato",which has the same meaning.
In Bolivia the hairless dogs (introduced by the Incas) are known
as Kalas or Khalas , and are also considered as a national breed;
maybe that was the name used by the Incas (we have no records).
This only reinforces my point of view , that all American
hairless dogs should be called "Pre-Columbian Hairlesss
Dog " , because they all have the same origin , and the
different names are due to geographic and linguistic differences.
